Purpose

THE MERGE is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants. We believe in fostering a community that encourages collaboration, learning, and the sharing of diverse perspectives. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for behavior, both online and offline, and the consequences for unacceptable conduct.

Expected Behavior

  1. Respectful and Inclusive Conduct: Treat all participants with respect and courtesy. Be considerate of others, and be mindful of your words and actions - just be nice!
  2. Diversity and Inclusion: Embrace diversity and strive to create an inclusive environment that welcomes people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
  3. Collaboration: Encourage a collaborative and constructive atmosphere. Share your knowledge, and be open to learning from others.
  4. Professionalism: Conduct yourself in a professional manner. Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behavior.
  5. Mindful Communication: Be mindful of the impact of your words. Avoid offensive language, and refrain from engaging in any form of personal attacks.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and will not be tolerated:

  1. Harassment: Harassment includes offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, race, religion, or any other protected status.
  2. Intimidation: Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following, online or offline, is not allowed.
  3. Disruptive Conduct: Any form of disruptive conduct that interferes with the conference's activities is not permitted.
  4. Invasion of Privacy: Do not invade the privacy of other participants, including the unauthorized recording or distribution of audio, video, or photographic images. Basically, if someone asks you not to photograph them please respect their wishes.
  5. Unwelcome Advances: Unwelcome and inappropriate advances are not acceptable. Respect personal boundaries and consent.

Reporting and Enforcement

If you witness or experience any violations of this code of conduct, please report it to the conference organizers as soon as possible. Reports can be made in person or by contacting [email protected].

Conference organizers are committed to addressing and resolving issues promptly. Anyone found to be in violation of this code of conduct may be subject to appropriate measures, including expulsion from the conference without a refund.
